Overview

The Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) is planning to replace all light and heavy logistics trucks under the Logistics Vehicle Modernization (LVM) Program.

SEI Industries has taken a strategic approach to be first and develop all heavy containers required for this program including diesel, aviation, water and firefighting. These containers will be manufactured at SEI’s newly upgraded project building in Delta, BC, Canada.

SEI will provide a low risk, compliant solution at the best possible price and highest Canadian content value.

LVM Partners

Starting in 2016, SEI formed exclusive supply agreements with highly qualified Canadian partners to provide a made in Canada solution.

Its partners include Wabash Mfg. Inc, BI Pure Water and Infiltek. Each bringing specialized capabilities to the project with extensive practical experience and engineering know how in their field.

Our team works in a collaborative manner to share information and technology and to develop creative and effective solutions that meet the needs of the Department of National Defence.

Heavy Container Common Requirements

All fuel containers manufactured for the LVM program will meet the following common requirements:

  • 20’ Container ISO 668 designation 1C to ISO 1496-3
  • 15,000 KG max gross weight
  • LHS compatible with recessed hook arm
  • Used in mounted or dismounted role
  • Self-powered using diesel engine
  • Operate with commercial diesel fuel ULSD and NATO common fuel F-34/JP-8
  • 28 VDC electrical system
  • Functional between -40 C and +49 C
  • Configured to accommodate the full range of 5th percentile female to 95th percentile male of the CF, to operate, maintain or service
  • Rated for highway, off-road, rail, air and sea transport
  • 20-year minimum life expectancy
  • Painted flat green 383 Camo colour

Ground Fuel Container

SEI has already completed the engineering, testing and manufacturing of the ground fuel container which meets all technical requirements outlined by DND for the LVM project.

The LVM Heavy Ground Container is a self-contained fuel transport and dispensing system for diesel fuel. The Container consists of two main elements: a stainless-steel storage tank and a mechanical section with a diesel engine driven pumping system. These two elements are mounted in a 20’ ISO container frame designed and built-in accordance with ISO 668 and ISO 1496-3.

The frame includes a recessed hook bar to allow the container to be loaded/offloaded to the LVM Heavy Vehicle by a container handling unit or hook lift.

A retractable working platform with stairs enables an operator to access the controls from the ground when the Container is mounted on the LVM Heavy Vehicle enabling use on the ground or while mounted.

A retractable ladder is provided for access to the top of the container. A walkway with handrails allows operators to access the tank top hatch for top filling and level measurement.

In addition to meeting the common requirements of LVM containers, the Ground Fuel Container features:

  • 10,000 L fuel tank made from stainless steel and certified to CSA-B625
  • Self-sealing coating
  • Commercial rack loading
  • Electronic overfill protection
  • Provided with 2 x 50’ hose reels capable of being split into up to four nozzles
  • Capable of filling 2 x Leopard tanks or up to four (4) support vehicles simultaneously
  • Discharge flow of 600L/min
  • Provided with removable cover to simulate a standard ISO unit

  • Self-sealing coating
  • Commercial rack loading
  • Electronic overfill protection
  • 2 x 100’ hose reels provided
  • Capable of fueling CH-146 and CH 147F aircraft in service with RCAF
  • Capable of low-pressure fuel delivery rate up to 400 L/min or high-pressure fuel delivery up to 1100 L/min
  • Removable cover to simulate a standard ISO unit provided
